The Simmance Partnership was formed in 2001 to offer discerning clients and candidates an industry defining recruitment and career planning service. Our practice is built on a quality of market insight, career vision and clear thinking that goes far beyond an assignment or an individual. We are recognised as an industry authority on FMCG sales and marketing recruitment, with an approach that is as revealing as it is refreshing. Leading and mid sized organisations come to us because of our dedicated focus on them and our ability to see beyond the homogeny of the recruitment industry. Talented candidates choose us because of the clients we work with and the career counsel we give. The question now is, what can we do for you?
Despite mention of yet more recessive times it appears the recruitment market is buoyant. Perhaps not as copious as 2009, as we look back at our records, but nevertheless the demand for senior management talent is constant. People moves across the FMCG sector appear to be higher compared to this time last year. It remains a good time for employers in search of Board level sales and marketing resource as the supply more than meets growing demand.
The level of recruitment activity in the junior and middle ranks seems to be usually high although the everlasting frustrations concerned with mediocrity of competence and inadequate capability to "do the job" remain apparent. The capable and competent National Account Managers in search of their next career step appear rare and we notice this through the large volumes of lack lustre quality recruitment advertising response. Could this be a manifestation of a shrinking population of graduate intake to the traditional "schools" of classic sales and marketing organisations and employer short termism towards developing their people? The stalwarts of graduate programmes don't appear willing any more to maintain and develop the next generation as they used to. There is some good news, however, hearing talk of a few more contemporary employers who are bringing back internships.
Advice for candidates - be even more considered when you are replying to recruitment advertising and make sure your experience is relevant and your skills are suitable as best as you can otherwise you will only set yourself up for a disappointing rejection.
