  Category Manager
As the category function expands to incorporate more than the original purity of data insight and analysis, the Category Manager is increasingly under pressure to expand their responsibilities, so they are seen to have greater influence and impact on the organisation. Employers want to see an expanded set of accountabilities beyond the traditional outputs of the role.
This could be the reason why Category Manager salaries have fallen behind in much the same way as those of their NAM colleagues.
The wide range in average salary between Controller and Manager can be attributed to the breadth of increased responsibility of Controllers versus the more limited scope and focus of the Category Manager role.
Small companies often pay relatively higher salaries to Category Managers reflective of the increased workload and breadth of the role on individual shoulders.
